William Morris (1834–96), designer, artist and writer, is acknowledged as the leader of the British Arts and Crafts Movement. He was an influential supporter of the South Kensington Museum, what was to become the V&A, and his firm of Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co. contributed to the decoration of the Museum. The foliate pattern of spiralling leaves is taken from Larkspur, originally a wallpaper designed by Morris in 1872, would sublime any walls.
